Something New

Its been a day since I left the HEOP program at Mount St. Mary College. You would think after being away from home for so long, that I would be excited to head back. Don'y get me wrong I was extremely excited to see my family, friends, girlfriend and of course my bed but while I was on the train back home something was going on. As I pass the Bronx projects I couldn't help but feel sad. I realized that I wanted to go back, back to where I wanted to be, where I belong. I love the people in my neighborhood but not my neighborhood itself. That program opened up my eyes to show me that I don't want to live in the projects for the rest of my life. I want a better life for both my family and the new family I hope to create in the near future. I really miss my home away from home.

6 year old girl shark attack victim

A young 6 year old girl was attacked by a shark right in front of her own parents. Gladly the young Lucy Magnum came away with her life. Her parents were on the a beach in North Carolina around 5am - 6am as the sun was setting. Little Lucy was in the shallow water when she encountered the shark and that's when it happened, the shark probably saw little Lucy as food and attacked. The real heart warming part about this is Lucy's interpretation on the whole situation.

Algae in China?

China just got greener! China is overwhelmed with an enormous amount of algae recently. That's right over 200 miles of the yellow sea of China but don't worry though, this algae is completely safe. This seems to be an issue because not many know how this will affect the sea life of many sea animals. Also the over flooding algae might drop the rate of tourist in China.

Norway shoot out?

Norway seems to be a quiet country in Europe but that all ended on July 23, 2011. The shootout and car bombing by one man claimed 93 peoples life. Multiple families were in tears as they bury there families. The 32 year old pleads in court and states that "Yes my actions were atrocious but I feel they were necessary" He also states that "I fell that what I have done does not deserve any punishment." I have no idea what is going on in the world today and I bet the UN (The United Nations) will agree with me. All we can do is pray for the families who have lost there loved ones in Norway.

Where Is Toby Maguire?

That's right folks Toby Maguire is in fact not in the new Spiderman movie. A new actor named Andrew Garfield is in fact the new Peter Parker. This new film is more of a remake/remastered of the first Spiderman movie. The director of the new Spiderman movie is taking a different approach as he takes the viewers on a roller coaster ride by placing them in Spidermans body. Viewers will be given a chance to see what Spiderman see's when he is swinging on his web or scaling buildings. Just by the look of the trailer, I say its a must watch.

Creative Minds of the Youth

Every wonder if you can become a millionaire like Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook? Well three children from New Jersey did just that. Catherine, David and Geoff Cook created a website called myYearbook.com in 2005 and grossed over $33.6 million dollars. At the time David and Catherine were just reaching 15-16 so that shows how strong a young persons mind really is.

What are some strategic note-taking skills that have helped you study for exams?

Some strategic note-taking skills that I have used are the review skill. After class or on that same night, I take time to go back into my notes and quickly but skillfully review them. I feel this note-taking skill is the best of all the others because it allows you to process all the knowledge that you received.

What have you learned from orientation? Feel more prepared for fall? How have your expectations changed?

I learned that the people that I judge end up surprising me because they are completely the opposite of what I originally thought. I met many new people that I hope will actually become my new friends. The orientation prepared me in many ways, how interaction is extremely important and what to expect as in population wise when the fall comes. During orientation I told many people that I was part of an elite group named HEOP and everyone I told had no idea what it was. When I told them they seemed confused but also intimidated by the prestige’s status that I and my fellow HEOP peers have. I felt proud but I also know why I’m in this position and others are not, I know I am going to have to work hard but I am ready for that challenge.

What are some Freshman Goals you have?

I have many freshman goals, one of course being that I survive freshman year with a high GPA since I do not only represent myself but the HEOP program also. Another goal I have is to join clubs that suit me and also affect people on campus in the best of ways. I also would like to meet and make many new friends that are focused on their goals as well since we are all on the same journey. I also want to play many sports including sports I either do not know about or do not know how to play.
The stress level of a college freshman is crazy. The emotional, physical and physiological mind frame of a young adult is pushed to it's limit. College Freshman deal with things such as classes, jobs, relationships and the emotional distress of being away from your family and friends.
Many people have a limited stress level that they can handle, some freshman can't handle it and ultimately drop out of college. There are many techniques incoming freshman can do to avoid dropping out of college from the stress and they are called stress relievers. Some stress relievers are exercise.

Another is music which is the way I relieve the stress of being a college student.
Many others way are included the only thing is finding the one that suits you best.
